I did this painting shortly after purchasing this vase secondhand. I love its graceful lines and I think the lines in the Iris and their foliage restate the beautiful design of the vase. One early summer evening I set the vase and its contents on the floor in my studio next to my drawing table. The focused light source and overhead vantage provided the compositional drama I was seeking. My framing is always archival. The frame on this painting is silver painted wood.
