I did this painting while on a trip to the Rocky Mountains with my husband and daughter and son-in-law.  New places inspire and excite me and call out to be painted. I was experimenting with technique- working somewhere between realism and abstract.  When I saw these mushrooms on the trail it sparked an idea for my Natural Forms series. I am sure it was a comic sight to see how I needed to arrange myself to do this painting. Part of my materials were balanced in the tree I was leaning on. It was also raining on and off while I was working. But I think the results justified the discomfiture I experienced while doing the work. My framing is always archival. The frame on this painting is gold metal.
