Finishing what I've started

Years ago I started this painting of our road in winter. It felt flat and boring and I put it away in my file drawer. Lately I was going through the drawer for something else and happened upon it. I put it aside thinking that I'd figure out how to finish it later. I took an early morning walk along the same road and noted the dramatic yellow cast by the rising sun. Drama in light effect and color and contrast were goals I wanted to achieve. Please click the arrows to toggle between the before and after versions.
